As kids growing up in Vancouver, Dad’s well meaning Sunday night ritual was subjecting us to many hours of boring slide-show pictures of various industrial job sites, work trucks and big machinery. We as kids, had no interest in it but nodded politely. This had a lasting affect on me. I discovered a passion for photography and the need to create “wow: moments with each photo. Now a resident of the Okanagan for 30 years, I have come to realize that we are surrounded by so much captivating beauty that it is not hard to find a “wow” subject when you slow down and take it all in. Before each click of the shutter release button I ask, “is this something I would put on my wall?” If the answer is “yes”, then I feel Dad’s Sunday night rituals were not in vain…
